What is a sweet protein?

A sweet protein is a protein that switches on the part of the tongue that senses sweetness. Unlike sugar, it is not a bulk carbohydrate, so it delivers sweetness without doing sugar’s full structural job in a recipe.

Because it is so intensely sweet, it works at milligram levels rather than grams. That is what makes it a precise tool for cutting sugar while keeping a clean, sugar-like taste.

What is a sweet protein?

It is exactly what it sounds like: a protein that tastes sweet. It is a plant-based sweetness, the same kind some fruits make. Your taste buds read it as sweet, and it is about 500 to 2,000 times sweeter than sugar, so a tiny amount does the work.

How can a protein possibly taste sweet?

Sweetness happens on the tongue. We sense sweet through one receptor, the part of the tongue that senses sweetness, and anything shaped to fit it reads as sweet. Sugar fits it. So does this protein. Same signal, very different molecule.

Is it a sugar or a carbohydrate?

Neither. It is a protein. It is digested like other dietary proteins, and at the milligram levels used for sweetness it contributes no sugars and negligible calories. We make no glycemic, metabolic or health claims for UnSugar Sweet Protein.

Can it replace ALL the sugar?
